Full Circle. Everything eventually comes full circle.
It’s funny the last time I was in this gym, I was laughed at for “dreaming.” But this past week. I was fortunate enough to help push others to make their dreams a reality. Never played one second of collegiate basketball for Bobby Collins but always felt his leadership and presence here.
Seeing the reaction of those kids faces when you tell them that they can be “Anything that they want to be” is the reason why the next generation is so important to me. I don’t say much but I was the kid that never could afford to go to camps. I was the kid that was “never going to make it out of West End” I was the kid that wouldn’t live past 21. I was the kid who would end up like the father who
I never had in my life. My role models were ones that I couldn’t see or touch, or were into the wrong things. The one that had everything going wrong for him, that kid. The kid that you wouldn’t have even seen at the camp.
The youth always impact me, but this was definitely an experience that hit my soul, truly. Every kid said I inspired them, but little do they know, they inspired me even more.
“If it is to be, it’s up to me”.
